I just got back from Versilia and I am feeling ready to pack my bag again. I have experienced such a strong sense of rest during my stay at Hotel Villa Undulna; the structure is named after the nymph of the water sung by Gabriele D’Annunzio. The breeze, the park surrounding the structure, the room – which looked more like an apartment rather than a hotel room. The delicious food, the thermal baths, and the silence. I don’t really know where to start from in order to tell you about my three-days experience in Versilia; it has been a journey that managed to recharge my batteries and to instill a sense of peace and balance; that same balance that sometimes Milan unconsciously takes away.

So, let’s take a a step back and let’s start from the beginning: firstly, as you as you arrive to the structure you will be welcomed by a group of professionals. The staff will politely provide you with information about the structure and its activities. Some extra information and some cuddles will greet you into the atmosphere of the thermal baths of Versilia – which are known internationally.

The structure is a mix between a hotel and thermal baths, as well as between a SPA and a holiday residence. A blend of the green shades of nature and the blue of the sea. Water and land. Here balance and equilibrium create the perfect place to rest and to heal your body. The main peculiarity of these waters, indeed, lies in the thermal water and in its peat.

The structure was inaugurated in 1998. Nowadays, the Thermal bath of Versilia represents one of the few examples of sea side thermal waters in Italy, and the only one located in the Tuscan region.

These waters use the therapeutic qualities of salsobromoiodic water – which is very rich in minerals, in particular in iodine (it contains ten times as much iodine as sea water), sodium, bromine, iron, manganese, nichel, and zinc. This water is used because of its relaxing, anti-inflammatory, draining, and stimulating properties.

The thermal peat extracted from the Lake Massaciuccoli area is organic, and it comes from the results of a millennial transformation of a specific vegetable species. It is hydrating, antiseptic, and purifying; the peat is rich with enzymes and proteins that have minerals as well as healing properties. It is healthy for your skin, and it helps healing a number on anti-inflammatory and rheumatic issues. The peat is available at the Thermal Baths of Versilia, and it is applied on your body and skin. It is used as an organic peeling, and therefore it illuminates the epidermis. Some recent studies have proven its benefits to prevent osteoporosis and cellulite.

All thermal paths are supervised by qualified staff made of dermatology, endocrinology, and osteopathy specialists.
The wellness of the body depends on two unique elements: thermal waters and peat – which are used to shape specific treatments for your body. As we all know, the well-being of the body depends also on the food that we eat on a daily basis. Food provides energy and it helps fighting possible issues. The Hotel Villa Undulna pays lots of attention to food quality, offering a selected choice of organic products. From farm to fork, the food here is always fresh.

The Thermal Baths of Versilia represent a small paradise of well-being; an oasis located just a few steps away from one of the most beautiful Italian coasts. It is a place that is worth exploring. Come here and get lost in order to find your balance again.
