Dubai is famous for being the city of gold. There is a whole district of the city where you can find gold in all shapes and sizes. Here one can find the world’s largest gold ring – where else? – which has been certificated by the Guinness World Record. However, besides the gold, the luxury, and the ostentation, my attention has been caught by the spices souk. Colorful, fragrant, unique. These spices left me speechless, conquering my attention much more than all those shining carats and rivers of gold.

Spices here have a different scent. Everything feels deeper, richer, and stronger. Being surrounded by all these spices feels like diving into an ocean of colors. Locals add their magic touch; for instance they add roasted peanuts in bags full of saffron. The sun and the warmth of the weather make everything look different. You taste the spices first with your eyes, and then with your mouth and with your fingertips. Just as you could taste their flavor with your gaze. As if you could go back to your roots, discovering simple pleasures that fill your eyes with colors and desires.
