Imagine an oasis of relax and peace within an historical context characterized by a timeless charm. I am talking about a place that I have discovered just a few weeks ago: Villa Porro Pirelli. Born as the country residence of the Porro family, it soon became a central and strategic place within the area thanks to the privileged social role of the Porro family who in 1700 used to spend in Induno moments of great tranquility.
In the following centuries, the prestige and consideration of the villa enhanced thanks to the personality of Francesco who was nominated Count in 1792 by the emperor Charles V, and thanks to the adventurous explorations of the most famous representative of the Porro family: Gio Pietro, an eccentric aristocratic and a great world explorer born in Como in 1844.
Today one can still admire his travel memories through the decors and furnishings of the villa, which features unique pieces of oriental antiques combined with elements of great pomp of the 18th century, shaping an extraordinary mix of elements.
In the following years Villa Porro Pirelli belonged to the Pirelli Foundation; however, since the early ’90s it has been calling the attention of the Region and the Province, as well as of many academics thanks to the precious architectonic value of the structure.
Today this charming place is a luxury hotel; the perfect choice for those who want to travel with style being surrounded by history. This luxury hotel is the ideal location for weddings and events, featuring a gourmet restaurant, a park, and a beautiful swimming pool.
Inside the structure there is a bistrot offering not only a great gastronomic selection of dishes, but also an atmosphere of elegance and harmony. Bistrot Porro Pirelli was born in the old 18th century nursery of the villa, surrounded by a stunning park at the feet of two majestic white pines. The accurate restoration of the nursery, characterized by the use of decors, curtains, and colors that perfectly blend with the environment, turned the bistrot into an elegant and relaxing place. Here we had the chance to meet Chef Fernando Tommaso Forino who has designed this monthly menu.
The menu changes according to the season and the availability of the ingredients, and it takes inspiration from the numerous travels around the world undertook by this young chef. The bistro is a real gem within a structure that welcomes all its guests, whether they are just passing by for the day or staying in to enjoy a relaxing weekend, just like we did.
